LeGrand, Lavana J. (nee Dannenmueller)

BENTON, Mo. -- Lavana J. LeGrand, 91, of Benton died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 13, 1923, in Oran, Missouri, to Albert and Rosalia Welter Dannenmueller. She and William J. LeGrand were married May 4, 1943, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran.

Lavana was an active member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton. She was a member and past president of St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed quilting and loved to garden.

Loving survivors include three sons, Ron LeGrand (Sharon) of Kelso, Missouri, Randy "R.J." LeGrand of Murphysboro, Illinois, and Patrick LeGrand of Scott City; three daughters, Betty Ressel (Bob) of Kelso, Darlene New (Jim) of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Nelli Kirkpatrick (Daryl) of Crane Hill, Alabama; a brother, Alfred Dannenmueller (Dolly) of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Viola Dirnberger of Oran, Bertha Lloyd of St. Charles, Missouri, and Mary Ann Dannenmueller of Sikeston, Missouri.

Also 13 grandchildren, Ryan (Theresa), Jason, Jeremy, Tiffany LeGrand, Tammy, Donna, Bob (Crystie) Ressel, Lisa (Jerry) Dalebout, Sarah (Jim) Tchoukaleff, Deanna Hamilton, Matthew (Stacey) Kirkpatrick, Cheryl (Jason) Torres and Sonya (Apolo) Pasia; 21 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Heidi, Isaac, Brady, Katelynn, Natalie LeGrand, Katie Rose, Charlie Ressel, Abby and Jack Tchoukaleff, Morgan Dalebout, Matt, Michael and Julia Hamilton, Emma and Madelyn Kirkpatrick, Peter, Nathanael, Andrew and Joseph Torres, Christian Pasia, and a great-grandson expected in October.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William LeGrand; a daughter, Geralyn LeGrand; a son-in-law, Ronald Eugene Dirnberger; two brothers, Cornelius and Leroy Dannemueller; two sisters, Velma Eftink and Ella Dannenmueller; and a great-grandson, Peyton LeGrand.

Funeral Mass was held Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel officiating. Burial was in St. Denis Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Denis Church.
