LeGrand, Vernon C.

Vernon C. LeGrand, 62, of Jackson died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 25, 1945, in Benton, Mo., son of Adam and Lorena Scherer LeGrand. He and Phyllis Statler were married Sept. 22, 1973.

LeGrand graduated from Kelly High School. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau five years, and at the former Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau for 14 years, retiring due to illness.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, all in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Irene Elfrink of Benton; five brothers, Monroe, Walter and Tony LeGrand of Benton, Ralph and David LeGrand of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by an American Legion service.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. March 27 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will follow in Lixville Cemetery near Sedgewickville, Mo., with graveside military honors.
