Leimbach, Eugene Robert "Gene"

Eugene Robert "Gene" Leimbach, 74, of Jackson passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Pocahontas, son of the late Otto and Julia Hemmann Leimbach. He and Geraldine "Geri" Boren were married July 6, 1952, in Pocahontas.

Gene worked all his life as a mechanic. In 1970 he opened his own business as Gene's Auto Service in Jackson.

He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. In 1961 Gene transferred his membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church, and in past years taught Bible classes and held various offices in the church. He coached summer boys league baseball, and was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Loving survivors include his wife of 53 years; a son, Mark Leimbach and wife Leslie of Jackson; a daughter, Mary Runnels and husband Don of St. Charles, Mo.; three grandchildren, Lauren Touchette, Brett and Kylie Leimbach; a brother, Rudolf Leimbach and wife Melva of Pocahontas; and a sister, Lorene Aurich and husband Melvin of Florissant, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and Sunday after 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church General Fund, or Saxony Lutheran High School.
