Rita M. “Pete” Linebarger, 93, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004, at the Lutheran Home where she has resided the past 10 days.

She was born November 15, 1910, in Millersville, Mo., daughter of Alexander H. and Mary Edith Hartle Looney. She and Everette Lee Linebarger were married June 14, 1936, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away October 4, 1990.

Pete and her husband moved to Jackson in 1950 from their farm at Millersville. Pete was a graduate from Cape Business College, and later worked for the former T. J. Seabaugh Grocery Store. She and her husband started The Linebarger Plumbing and Heating Company in Jackson in 1952. At the same time she also worked at the former International Shoe Company in Cape Girardeau for 32 years retiring in 1972. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson for many years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 310 in Oak Ridge, where she was a past worthy matron and received her 50 year pin in 2000. She was also a member of the Calvary White Shrine #8 of Cape Girardeau, and a charter member of Amarath Court #14 in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ellen and J.D. Schneier, June and Dwight Kelley, all of Cape Girardeau, and Judith and Gene Fawley of Pensacola, Florida; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-step-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Drum.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 21st, between 4-8 PM, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 22nd, at 10 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. John Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Sedgewickville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Oak Ridge Eastern Star, Chapter 310.
