YOUNT, Mo. -- Louis Lix Jr., 82, of Yount passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born Oct. 11, 1929, to Louis W. and Marie (Statler) Lix in St. Louis.

Junior was a member of Mount Zion Immanuel Lutheran Church at Yount until it closed, where he served various committees and was an usher. He later became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, Mo.

Junior was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Metta Jane (Fadler) Lix, the love of his life. They were married Oct. 22, 1950, at Mount Zion Immanuel Lutheran Church in Yount where they were both confirmed.

Junior was a hard worker who enjoyed farming, camping and hunting. His most cherished moments were spending time with his family, who he dearly loved. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513 for 58 years and was a heavy equipment operator, retiring from Fred Weber Construction after 27 years of service.

Junior and Metta were blessed with six loving children, who all survive, Susan (Ray) White, Nancy (Roger) Schremp, Peggy (Tom) Kehler, Judy (Kenny) Hoehn, Debbie (Keith) McCrary and Mark (Dorothy) Lix. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, Jill (Eric) Clinton, Amy (Brian) Davis, Christine and Kelsey Schremp, Dalton and Hannah Hoehn, Sarah, Samantha, Savannah, Sophia, Sadie, and Louie McCrary, Ada, Danielle, Ashley and Emily Lix. Nine great-grandchildren also survive, Alex, Lillie, and Faith Clinton, Brianna, Abigail, Luke, Emma, Ezra and Anna Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Lix.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The funeral for at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be at Yount Community Cemetery in Yount.

Memorials are preferred to Radio Broadcast or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
