Loenneke, Elda I. (nee Lange)
Elda I. Loenneke, 90, of Jackson passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home where she resided the past few years.
One of 11 children, Elda was born Jan. 21, 1921, near Tilsit, daughter of Ferdinand and Alma Loos Lange. She and Carl F. Loenneke were married Jan. 23, 1945, at the church parsonage of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Tilsit. He passed away Jan. 31, 2011.
Elda was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. She and Carl moved from Tilsit to Jackson in 1964 and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She worked in the cafeteria for the Jackson School District a number of years and assisted Carl as co-owner of the former Cape Egg and Feed Supply. She was an active member of Ladies Aid, both at Immanuel and St. Paul, and a charter member and former leader of Tilsit 4-H. She and Carl danced with the former Hill Toppers Square Dancers.
Loving survivors include three children, Harvey (Janet) Loenneke and Ronald (Deborah) Loenneke of Jackson, Ann (Henry) Adams of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Rebecca) Loenneke, David Loenneke (Stacy Miget), Cynthia (Mike) Williams, Benjamin (Krissy) Loenneke, Jeremy Loenneke, Phillip (Beth) Adams, Robert Adams; and five great-grandchildren, Olivia Loenneke, Grant Loenneke, Nicholas Loenneke, Lillie Adams, Emma Williams; two brothers, Richard Lange and Walter Lange; three sisters, Hilda Hauenschild, Melva Mirly, Adela Moore, all of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Zelma "Shorty" Loenneke of Sedgewickville, Mo.; and many loving nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center, and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Ted Tororreson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Camp SEMO or Lutheran Laymen's League.
