PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Joseph Lundy Jr., 79, of Perryville died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 28, 1923, in Butler County, Mo., to the late Joe Lundy and Lillian Sherrill Lundy. He and Viola Buchheit were married July 7, 1948. She died June 27, 1993...

A funeral will be held Tuesday, December 31st, 2002 for 79-year-old Joseph Lundy Jr. of Perryville who died Saturday, December 28th, 2002 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

He was born June 28th, 1923 in Butler County, the son of Joe and Lillian (Sherrill) Lundy who both preceded him in death.

He married Viola Buchheit on July 7th, 1948. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by three sons and three daughters in law and four daughters and three sons in law: Mary Ellen Lundy of St. Louis, Michael and Vickie Lundy, Pat and Orville Baer, Carol and Dwain Rhyne, Mark and Janice Lundy, John and Karen Lundy, and Ann and Chris Koesterer, all of Perryville.

One brother, Chris "Buddy" Meinershagen and one sister, Margie Massey, both of California, also survive him.

Seventeen grandchildren and one great grandson also survive.

He was postal worker and police officer for 15 years and was a former employee of the International Shoe Company.

He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, member of American Legion Post No. 133, VFW Post No. 4282, AmVets, Disabled American Veterans and was the parade chairman for the American Legion.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. this (Monday, December 30th, 2002) afternoon and evening and 6:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31st, 2002 at the Young and Sons Chapel in Perryville. A Catholic wake will be held at 7 p.m., an American Legion wake will be held at 7:15 p.m. and a VFW wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

A funeral for 79-year-old Joseph Lundy Jr. of Perryville will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with military graveside service provided by a Marine Corps guard of honor. The Rev. Kevin Fausz, C.M., will officiate.
