A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 for 54-year-old Jerry K. Mahnken of Altenburg who died January 5, 2014 at his residence.
He was born May 4, 1959 in Perryville, the son of Leonard who preceded in death and Opal (Steffens) Mahnken who survives in Farrar.
He is survived by five brothers and four sisters: Janice Mahnken of St. Louis, Doyle Mahnken of Lake Perry, Dewain Mahnken of Percy, Illinois, Maxine (David) Theiss of Farrar, Neal (Donna) Mahnken of Longtown, Jolene (Steve) Pohlman of Apple Creek, James Mahnken of Farrar, Dana (Roy) Pohlman of Apple Creek and Steve (Sara) Mahnken of Longtown; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar and Wittenberg Boat Club.
He liked to hunt, fish and play the harmonica.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 9 at Young & Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg and from 9-10 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar.
A funeral for 54-year-old Jerry K. Mahnken of Altenburg will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Roger Abernathy will officiate. Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial preferred to family use.
