Martens, Dolores T. (nee Brown)

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 20, 2000 for 80-year-old Dolores T. Martens, who died Friday, March 17, 2000 at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born on May 7, 1919 in Perry County, the daughter of Martz and Ellen Doll Brown. She was married to Joseph J. Martens on Nov. 23, 1940. He survives in St. Mary.

Children surviving are Mary Jo’Ellen Steffan of Poplar Bluff; Sharon Hoff of Perryville; Gayle Lynn of Frohna; Kenneth Martens of Perryville; and James Martens of orange Park, Fla.

Three sisters and one brother survive: Gladys Riney of Perryville; Wanda Boxdorfer of Gallopolis, Ohio; Norma Jean Funk of St. Louis; and Clyde Brown of Perryville.

Seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

One sister, Lucille Morgan, six brothers and one grandchild preceded her in death.

She was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion, The Extension Club, The Quilt Club and 4-H leader. Friends may call at the Miller Family Funeral Home on Sunday 4-9 p.m. and Monday from 6:30-9:30 a.m. There will be parish wake service at 7 p.m. on Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass for Dolores T. Martens will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Monday at the Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer. Rev. Filipe Martinez will officiate. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or UCAN Cancer Fund at Lucy Lee Hospital.
