ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Elmer C. Mattingly, 83, of St. Charles died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus, Mo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Kerber officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.

A funeral will be held Friday, July 10th, 2009 for 83-year-old Elmer C. Mattingly of St. Charles, formerly of Festus, who died Sunday, July 5th at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

He was born May 30th, 1926 in St. Mary, the son of Firman and Stella (Gibbar) Mattingly, who both preceded him in death.

He married Virginia Peter. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters: Joyce (James) Lea of St. Charles and Deborah Lemons of De Soto; four sisters: Gertrude Terbrak, Lillian (Alonzo) Zahner, Jean (Jr) Hunt and Agnes (Delbert) Bohnert, all of Perryville; three grandchildren: Eric Mattingly, Shawn Lemons, Christian Mattingly; and four great grandchildren: Brittani Lemons, Brenda Mattingly, Garytt Mattingly and Madison Mattingly.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Gary Mattingly; a brother and three sisters.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was employed by Yellow Transit as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters.

He was a member of the Our Lady Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1230.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 9th at the Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins, Festus.

A funeral for 83-year-old Elmer C. Mattingly of St. Charles, formerly of Festus, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10th at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary Lane, Festus. The Rev. John Kerber will officiate.

Burial will be in the St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
