Mayfield, Clarence Allen "Willie"

Clarence Allen “Willie” Mayfield, age 79, of Jackson and formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson.

He was born October 25, 1933 in Mayfield, MO, son of Dale and Alpha Allen Mayfield. Clarence was married to Margaret Ann Clippard April 2, 1977 and she preceded him in death October 10, 2011.

Clarence was inducted into the United States Navy December 8. 1955 and was honorably discharged December 7, 1961. He also worked over thirty years for the Cape Girardeau Public Schools, retiring in 1996.

Clarence enjoyed photography and had a passion for true country music, having played in the country music bands of Lou Hobbs and Narvel Felts.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Mayfield of Jackson and Greg (Mary Ann) Mayfield of Jackson; two daughters Carla (Kurt) Lafaire of Marble Hill, MO, and Karen (Ken) Condict of Bloomfield, MO; two step-daughters, Cathy (Jack) Connell of Cape Girardeau and Barbara (Bill) Kempen of St. Roberts, MO; one step son Ray (Lola) Bowen of Blytheville, AR; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Mayfield.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 4-8 pm at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Rhodes officiating.

Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with full military honors.
