McIntosh, Gary Wayne

GIPSY, Mo. -- Gary Wayne McIntosh, 66, of Gipsy made his journey to heaven Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.

He was born Sept. 1, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Elmer Lee and Inez Marie Kinder McIntosh. He and Mary W. White were married Aug. 12, 1967, in St. Louis.

Gary retired from Lowes in Cape Girardeau in 2014, where he had worked 15 years. He was an install sales manager. He was a member of Berrong Baptist Church and had been a deacon 25 years.

He worked various jobs in his life, with his first job being at the Chaffee Skating Rink, to butcher and siding applicator. He worked hard all his life and was always helping other people.

Gary was a 1966 graduate of Chaffee High School. Gary enjoyed doing a little fishing and traveling with friends and he loved to eat out.

Survivors include his wife, Mary McIntosh of Gipsy; a son, Gary "Brian" McIntosh of Cornelius, North Carolina; two daughters, Angela (Charles) Mayo of Advance, Missouri, and Rena (Jeffery) Miller of Scott City; three brothers, William McIntosh of Springfield, Missouri, Edward McIntosh of Pensacola, Florida, and Michael McIntosh of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Devan Long, Dawson Mayo and Nicholas Miller; a special sister-in-law, Pearline Porter of Advance; and several good friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Mike Blissett and LeeRoy Hefner officiating. Burial will be in Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the G.W.Mc Memorial Scholarship Fund/Brian McIntosh at the Bank of Advance. The scholarships will aid students affected by terminal illness.
