James A. McKinney, a well known citizen of Idaho Springs and vicinity for the past twenty years, passed away at his home on Miner street Wednesday morning, Aug. 8, after a week's illness, aged 78.

He was born near Philadelphia, Pa., July 3, 1845.  He is survived by a son and daughter, Wm. E. McKinney of Alliance, Neb., and Mrs. Ella McK. Phillips of Idaho Springs; also two granddaughters, Mrs. Clyde Gannon of Alliance and Miss Mary Phillips of this city.  The body was shipped to Denver Friday, where interment was made at Fairmount cemetery.
