Montgomery, Jackie Delno, Rev. Dr.

A graduate of Bismarck High School in 1951; Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean War. Upon his return to Missouri, Jack married his high school sweetheart Valle Fulbright, the daughter of a Methodist Minister. Dr. Montgomery was hired by McDonnell Douglas where he worked on the Mercury spacecraft. He was then hired at Aeronautical Chart & Information Center in South St. Louis as a cartographer where helped map the moon surface. The Montgomery family lived in the Herculaneum area where he served on the Dunklin R-5 School Board, volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball. During this time Jack embraced sobriety turning his life over to Jesus Christ.

Jack and Valle moved to Cheyenne Wyoming where they pursued additional education culminating in Jack earning a Doctorate of Theology. He retired as a GS-13 from government service and returned to Missouri to become a Methodist Minister. Jack and Valle served the United Methodist Church for thirty-five years even coming out of retirement to revitalize struggling churches. He loved his family and took particular pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack loved to fish and kept an extensive collection of St. Louis Cardinal memorabilia. Dr. Montgomery will be sorely missed by his family and friends but they can look forward to joining him for a glorious reunion in heaven.

A memorial service will be held at Willard United Methodist Church, Willard, Missouri on the 28th of June 2014. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 12:30 with the service beginning at 2pm. Any donations to the memory of Reverend Montgomery may be made to the Willard United Methodist Church.

Jackie Delno Montgomery passed into the arms of his Savior on June 18, 2014. A long serving United Methodist Minister, Reverend Montgomery served numerous Missouri communities and greatly influenced many Missouri citizens. Born January 19, 1934 in Bismarck, Missouri to Harry and Alta Montgomery Jack was the eleventh of twelve children. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Valle Fulbright Montgomery, three siblings, four children, 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Leo Montgomery, Norma Jean Hopp and Frankie Conway. Jack and Valle's beloved children are Monty Montgomery (Neana), Marty Montgomery (Jane), Kelly Mackison (Edward "Skip") and Tracy Hoyer (Todd). Reverend Montgomery officiated the wedding ceremonies for his children and married grandchildren. He baptized his grandchildren and great grandchildren in the United Methodist Church.

Dr. Montgomery was hired by McDonnell Douglas where he worked on the Mercury spacecraft, including the internal wiring of John Glenn's spacecraft, Friendship 7. While working at "Mac" the Montgomery's lived down the block from Sportsman's Park where Jack, a lifelong Cardinal fan, often took his two young sons to the games. He was then hired at Aeronautical Chart & Information Center in South St. Louis as a cartographer where helped map the moon surface. While Jack worked at ACIC the Montgomery family lived in the Herculaneum area where he served on the Dunklin R-5 School Board, volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball. During this time Jack embraced sobriety turning his life over to Jesus Christ.

Jack and Valle moved to Cheyenne Wyoming with their two daughters where they decided to pursue additional education culminating in Jack earning a Doctorate of Theology. They led five trips to the Holy Land through Educational Opportunities. Ten parishioners from Dr. Montgomery's congregations went on to choose a career in ministry. He received numerous awards and recognitions including the Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Educator of the Year from the Christian Civic Foundation. Reverend Montgomery was known for his unique sense of humor, he felt church was a place to enjoy yourself while worshiping God. He loved his family and took particular pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack loved to fish and kept an extensive collection of St. Louis Cardinal memorabilia. Dr. Montgomery will be sorely missed by his family and friends but they can look forward to joining him for a glorious reunion in heaven.
