Mouser, Larry Joe

Larry Joe Mouser, 74, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro.

He was born March 22, 1940, in Millersville, son of Willie and Reda Runnels Mouser. He and Norma Getson were married July 26, 1986, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Joe graduated from Jackson High School in 1958. He was a mechanical engineer, installing and working on machinery for different shoe manufacturers, including the former International Shoe Co., the former Brown Shoe Co. and Red Wing Shoe Co., retiring in 1988. He was a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church near Millersville many years. Joe spent much time purchasing and restoring antique cars, and was a member of Crowley's Ridge Cruisers in Jonesboro. He enjoyed working with horses and doing woodworking out of his home.

Loving survivors include his wife; a son, Brad (Jean) Mouser of Spring Hill, Tennessee; a daughter, Barb (Mark) Rutherford of Jackson; two stepsons, Ronnie Roberts and Steve (Gayle) Roberts of O'Kean, Arkansas; a stepdaughter, Kathryn (David) Hicks of Melbourne, Arkansas; a brother, Milton (Belvy) Mouser of Millersville; a twin sister, Lois Mouser of Millersville; two sisters-in-law, Verna Lee Mouser and Wanda Mouser of Jackson; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and nine great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anna Ruth Young; and four brothers, W.D., Vernon, Earl and Jerry Mouser.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Morris Cobb officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Crowley's Ridge Cruisers.
