Mouser, Verna Mae (nee Slinkard)

Verna M. Slinkard Mouser, 77 of Ballwin, MO, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 at her home.

She was born July 10, 1929 in Jackson, daughter of Englan and Lela Bollinger Slinkard. On April 9, 1949 she and W.D. Mouser were married.

In her early years Verna served as a Brownie Troop Leader, played the clarinet, and had a lovely singing voice. She was a long-time employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, beginning as a switchboard operator and retiring as an engineer with over 30 years of service.

She and her husband have been residents of Ballwin since 1968. W. D. and Verna were active in the Bow-Tie Chevy Club, enjoyed many fishing trips in Canada, and were able to travel much of the United States and parts of Europe.

Verna greatly enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing, crafts, wildlife-watching and visiting with family.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 57 years, W. D.; a daughter Gail Cross and partner Dennis Sahm of Gerald, MO; son, Greg Mouser and wife Andrea of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Melissa & Zachary Mouser, Canaan Cross and wife Kara; and a great grandchild Dade Cross.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM Saturday, March 3, 2007 at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and from 12:00-2:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 4th, at the funeral home with Rev. Craig Petzoldt officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis.
