Mouser, Vernon E.
Vernon E. Mouser, 78, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Millersville, son of Willie D. and Reda Runnels Mouser. He and Vernalee Klaus were married Dec. 21, 1946, at Perryville, Mo.
Vernon was inducted into the U.S. Navy Nov. 4, 1944, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged July 9, 1946, as a seaman second class.
He was baptized and confirmed July 21, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where he was currently a member. He worked for General Motors Co. in St. Louis 35 years, and moved from St. Louis to Jackson in 1987. He was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
Loving survivors include his wife of 58 years; two sons, Ronald Mouser and wife Phyllis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Randy Mouser and wife Joan of Obion, Tenn.; four daughters, Joyce Hartwein and husband Charles of Defiance, Mo., Judy Ford of San Antonio, Texas, Joan Kahl and husband Ed of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Janet Cothern and husband Michael of St. Peters, Mo.; three brothers, Milton Mouser of Millersville, Larry Joe Mouser of Jonesboro, Ark., Willie D. Mouser of Ballwin, Mo.; a sister, Lois Mouser of Millersville; 12 grandchildren, Kirk Hartwein and Jill Hartwein Duke, Mindy and Nicholas Mouser, Tim and Julie Ford, Ryan and Kristen Mouser, Erin Henry, Sara Carey, Jamie and Jason Cothern; five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Aiden Hartwein, Carter and Caden Duke and Justice Mouser.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with graveside military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
