Mungle, Charles E.

Charles E. Mungle, 61, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at his home.

He was born March 18, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Charles E. and Virginia Imogene Jones Mungle. He and Patricia Koeppel were married Aug. 8, 1981.

Charles was a 1967 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School and attended EMD, a diesel mechanic school in La Grange, Ill. He previously worked for Mid America Towing in St. Louis and had worked at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau since 1976.

He was vice president of Gateway Leather Guild of St. Louis, and was a member of Cat Ranch Art Guild in Marble Hill, Mo. Charles was considered a "leather artist," working as a leather smith at the local Black Forest Villages.

He devoted time as a badge counselor teaching leather art to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and taught leather crafting to children with autism. He worked with veterans at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, was a volunteer at Southeast Missouri Hospital and had been a foster parent to 17 children.

Loving survivors include his wife of 28 years; two sons, Kevin M. (Suzanne) Robinson of Ramstein, Germany, Robert E. "Bobby" Koeppel III of Thurmont, Md.; two daughters, Kimberly A. (Lincoln) Zmolek of Seattle, Rose Neal of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Joyce (Terry) Penny of Jackson; two grandsons, Kraig and Kass Robinson; and a granddaughter, Kasey Neal.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
