Natchus, George Arthur
Born in Norfolk, VA on Dec. 21, 1929
Departed on Apr. 4, 2010 and resided in Chesapeake, VA.
CHESAPEAKE---George Arthur Natchus, 80, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 in
Chesapeake. He was a native of Norfolk and was a son of the late Athonassios George and
Artemisia Zafiropoulos Natchus.
George retired from the Virginia Power Company with more than 35 years service. He was a
member of the Sertoma, Optimist and Kiwanis Clubs and was a Mason. He was a member of the
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a longtime ODU athletic supporter. He was a 1948
Maury High School graduate as well as a 1952 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
During the Korean Conflict, George served in the U. S. Army with the Signal Corps
stationed at Ft. Bragg.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Iris Yount Natchus.
He is survived by his children; Rocky Natchus and wife Pamela of Williamsburg, Michael
Natchus and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, Diane Springer and husband Samuel of Chesapeake and
Melissa Silverman and husband Jeff of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Kara and Nicole Natchus,
Damien and Austin Natchus, Jacob and Dylan Springer and Megan and Justin Silverman and one
brother, Thomas A. Natchus of Virginia Beach.
A funeral service will be held 11:00A.M. Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Annunciation Greek
Orthodox Cathedral by Father Ambrose Bitziadis-Bowers and Father Constantine Rogakos.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be held
6:30P.M. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, after
which the family will receive friends until 8:00P.M.
In lieu of flowers flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
