Nielsen, Leo A.

SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Leo A. Nielsen, 77, of Sedgewickville passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at his home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Thornton, Iowa, son of Christ and Pearl Buck Nielsen. He and Betty R. Clayton were married Nov. 18, 1960, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Leo was a carpenter.

He served in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Nielsen of Sedgewickville; two sons, Russell Nielsen of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Bradley Nielsen of Burfordville; four daughters, Mary Mungle of Sedgewickville, Wendy Gill of Millersville, Brenda Nielsen of Marble Hill and Kelly Omodt of South Dakota; two sisters, Mavis Jansen of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Joy Bulow of St. Ansgar, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sedgewickville Lutheran Church, with the Rev Jerry Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Sedgewickville Cemetery, with full military rites by the Missouri Honors Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the American Cancer Society or Sedgewickville Cemetery.
