Niemann, Tavia Agnes (nee Lange)

Tavia A. Niemann, 87, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Aug, 29, 1925, in Millersville, daughter of David and Carrie Estes Lange. She and William "Bill" J. Niemann were married April 27, 1946, in Gordonville. He passed away Aug. 3, 2012.

Tavia was a graduate of Jackson High School and then briefly taught grade school in Oak Ridge. She was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville where she formerly taught Sunday school, served as president of the Ladies Aid and sang in the choir. Later, she and Bill joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson where they were both faithful in attendance.

Tavia worked many years at the former Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1996. She and Bill enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.

Loving survivors include daughter Beth (Bob) McGregor of Cape Girardeau; daughter-in-law Fay Niemann of Athens, Ala.; five grandchildren, Rodney White and Jana Willis of Athens, Sara Fuller and Gabe (Lisa) Fuller of Cape Girardeau and Jesse McGregor of West Palm Beach, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Joey, Randee, Cody, Marissa, Morgan and Ryan; and two sisters, Edna (Dale) Wolfenkoehler and Vesta Mae Meyer of Jackson.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, she was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Niemann; a brother, David Lange; and two young brothers; and a young sister.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
