Niswonger, James Woodrow "Woody"

Mary Belle Niswonger, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born Dec. 30, 1921, at Oak Ridge, Mo., daughter of Lloyd and Arta Crites Ford. She and Woodrow Niswonger were married April 5, 1942, in Jackson, Mo.

Niswonger worked on the family farm in Oak Ridge several years. She lived in Jackson until 1957 and then in Cape Girardeau until April 2000. She was an active member at First Baptist Church more than 50 years, and had been a member of Lynwood Baptist Church since April 1998. She was also a member of Joy Choir and Women's Missionary Union. She was an avid gardener.

Survivors include her husband of Kansas City; two daughters, Donna Faye McClain of Kansas City, Nancy Jo Gerecke of Blue Springs, Mo.; a brother, Dean Ford of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren, Robin Drum of Kansas City, Julie Upchurch of Scott City, Mo., Rob Gerecke, David Gerecke and Bryan Gerecke, all of Blue Springs; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Ford.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derek Staples officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
