Niswonger, Pinkston Pervis

Pinkston P. Niswonger, 326 Edgewood, 85 years old, died Tuesday morning in Southeast Missouri Hospital here. He had been in failing health since January.

Mr. Niswonger was born May 30, 1889 in Millersville. On June 18, 1927, he was married to Miss Ella Welker at Perryville.

Mr. Niswonger managed the former Jackson Hotel and also owned and operated a trucking firm in Jackson for a number of years. In 1931, he moved to Cape Girardeau and served with the Cape Girardeau Police Department for 17 years. He retired in 1959 from his job as a government meat inspector.

Surviving, his wife; sons, Gary N. Niswonger, Jackson, Larry D. Niswonger, Cape Girardeau, and Melvin Niswonger, Perryville; daughters, Mrs. Jim Litzelfelner, Jackson and Mrs. Earl Schreiner, Manteno, Illinois; sister, Mrs. Ed Welker, Milton-Freewater, Oregon; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

The body is at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where service will be Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. H. L. McClanahan, pastor of the Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
