Oehl, Howard N.

Howard N. Oehl, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 20, 2002, at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1924, at Friedheim, Mo., son of Henry and Docilla Sauer Oehl. He and Dorothy Simpher were married Feb. 26, 1949, at Friedheim.

Oehl worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone 37 years, retiring as an estimate assigner. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Men's Club, and Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Terry Ashby of Cape Girardeau, Kathy and Scott Blyze of Columbus, Ohio, a daughter and fiance, Kay Oehl and Stephen Corujo of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Marlen Oehl of Oak Ridge, Mo., Richard Oehl of Old Appleton, Mo.; a sister, Wilma Bogenpohl of Old Appleton; four grandchildren, Marla and Melissa Ashby of Cape Girardeau, Emily and Callie Blyze of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gertrude Rhode.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Leonard and Gary Bogenpohl, Cletus Rhode, Doyle, Rodney and Ronnie Oehl.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund.
