Oliver, Albert Glyn "Al"

A funeral will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 for 59-year-old Albert "Al" Glyn Oliver of Perryville who died November 15, 2010 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

He was born February 4, 1951 in Sikeston, the son of James Fowler and Lilly Lee (Lathum) Oliver who both preceded him in death.

He married LaDonna Weibrecht Oliver on June 29, 1973. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by two daughters: Angela (Tim) Brewer of Perryville and Sandra (JoJo) Stuart of Perryville; a son: Jeffrey (Kim) Oliver of Lawton, Oklahoma; two brothers: Alfred Oliver of Festus and Manuel Oliver of Millersville; three sisters: Marie Abernathy of Morley, Wilma Finn of St. Louis and Bonnie Brenning of Troy; and eight grandchildren: Garrett, Miranda and Conner Brewer; Mason, Madyson and Meygan Oliver and Samuel and Adrian Stuart.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Seth and Avery Oliver and two sisters: Betty Abernathy and Ann Miller.

He had worked at Procter and Gamble for 27 years, from 1969 to 1997.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church,

He had been Ward I City Alderman since April 2008, President of Perryville Country Club for 15 years and a member of Chamber of Commerce.

He loved his family very much and loved playing with his grandchildren.

He loved doing woodwork, especially for others.

He really enjoyed helping his grandson Garrett build his catapult and trebuchet for school. He loved helping and doing things for others never wanting anything but a mere thank you in return. (Always bladed driveways when we had a lot of snow and always refused any pay for doing it.)

He was a firm believer in neighbors helping neighbors, friends helping friends, and loved trout fishing at Montauk.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, November 18th and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Friday, November 19th at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral for 59-year-old Albert "Al" Glyn Oliver of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 19th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. The Rev. Thomas Handrick will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
