Paulus, Bernard F.

Bernard F. "Booze" Paulus, 83, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 10, 1925, at Chester, Ill., son of Leo B. and Mildred Claussen Paulus. He and Rose Moonier were married Nov. 22, 1947.

Paulus worked in the parts and service department of the Bierck Automotive Dealership, and later at the Midway Automotive Dealership. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife of Perryville; a son, Bruce Paulus of St. Louis; seven brothers, Mick, Rut and Ken Paulus, all of Perryville, Bob and Harold Paulus, both of Columbia, Mo., Jim Paulus of Overland, Mo., Roger Paulus of Arnold, Mo.; three sisters, Elta Cattoor of Hazelwood, Mo., Mary Dyer of Conway, Ark., Pauline Tucker of Perryville; and three grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4th degree Knight of Columbus and former Grand Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 133.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers with the Knights of Columbus are at 7 p.m., American Legion Service to follow. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, with graveside military honors courtesy of the U.S. Marine Corps.
