Petzoldt, Linda Louise Minnie (nee Ludwig)

Linda Louise Minnie Petzoldt, 96, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born September 19, 1916, near Pocahontas, to Edwin and Dora Tuschhoff Ludwig. She was baptized October 1, 1916, at the home of her parents, and confirmed March 29, 1929, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. She and Olaf E. Petzoldt were married February 22, 1936, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. They had been married 45 years when Olaf passed away November 22, 1981.

After Olaf's death, Linda and her brother-in-law, Gilbert Petzoldt, took care of the farm until his passing in March, 2004. She worked as a cook for the Oak Ridge R-6 Schools and Fruitland Auction Barn. She also was a Republican Committeewoman and worked at the polls for many years.

Linda was a lifelong, active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She served as organist for the adult Sunday school class, pianist for over 30 years for the Ladies Aid, taught vacation Bible school, was a choir member and served 18 years as the inside custodian.

Loving survivors include: two sons K. Gene (Elfrieda) Petzoldt, Jerry (Darlene) Petzoldt, all of Jackson; daughter Sharon (Marty) Schuessler of Jackson; four grandsons Brent (Diane) Petzoldt, Justin (Mindy) Petzoldt, Brandon (Valerie) Petzoldt, Chad (Ashley) Schuessler all of Jackson; granddaughter Julie (Andrew) Peralta of Indianapolis, Ind.; five great-grandchildren, Wade, Austin, and Autumn Petzoldt, Wyatt and Stella Schuessler; brother Joe (Loustell) Ludwig of Jackson; sister-in-law Nelda Ludwig of Pocahontas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Ludwig.

Friends may call Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be Friday, October 26, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with AIM Julie Peralta and the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pocahontas. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice or Saxony Lutheran High School.
