Pixley, Winnis Verna (nee Bollinger)

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Winnis V. "Winn" Duncan Pixley, 78, of Advance, formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at the Advance Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Stoddard County, the daughter of Leslie and Lottie Jenkins Bollinger. She and James B. Duncan were married June 30, 1949, in Holts Summit, Mo. He died Aug. 14, 1996. She married Charles Pixley on Dec. 28, 2000. He died Aug. 19, 2006.

Pixley was a 1946 graduate of Advance High School.

She worked in the Office of the Governor under Gov. Warren Hearnes from 1965 to 1972. In the early 1980s, Pixley started the House of Real Estate Inc., where she was a Realtor and broker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, where she served on the board of trustees, and was on the board of directors of Riverview Cemetery. She also served as a docent at the Governor's Mansion.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela K. Collins of Peachtree City, Ga.; a son, Timothy J. Duncan of Perrysburg, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City Chapel.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Hilty officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
