Pohlman, Mildred (nee Roth)

Mildred R. Pohlman, 86 of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 10, 1926, in Old Appleton, to Gottfried “Fritz” and Bertha Mueller Roth. She and Melvin Pohlman were married January 25, 1951, in Blytheville, Ark.

Mildred worked at the former Litz Poultry Plant in Jackson, and then worked 33 years at the former Lee-Rowan (now Rubbermaid) in Jackson, retiring in 2002.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

In her spare time, she liked to embroider quilt blocks and mow grass in the summer, but she especially enjoyed curling up with her little white poodle, Snowball.

Loving survivors include her husband of 61 years, Melvin of Jackson; two sons, Kenny Pohlman of Jackson and Steve (Peggy) Pohlman of Jackson; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Lorna) Roth of Old Appleton; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Roth of Cape Girardeau; and dear friends, Dr. Steve and Lisa Pewitt and their family of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norman Roth.

Friends may call Saturday, July 21, from 4 to 8 PM, at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Sunday, July 22, at 2 PM, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Living Hope.
