Polen, Russell Henry

Russell H. Polen, 91, of Jackson died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at the home of a son.

He was born May 27, 1913, at Fisk, Mo., son of Oscar W. and Ethel Lou Appel Polen. He and Esther Long were married Oct. 6, 1934, at Essex, Mo.

Polen sold seed corn many years for Funk Seed Co. in Farmington, Ill. In 1944 he moved to Millersville and farmed. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Millersville.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Richard Polen of Godfrey, Ill., Russell Polen of Jackson, Jeffrey Polen of Perryville, Mo.; a daughter, Betty Smith of Millersville; five brothers, Estel Polen and Earl Duley of Maquon, Ill., Donald Duley of Hanna City, Ill., Carl Duley of Williamsfield, Ill., Ralph Duley of Yates City, Ill.; two sisters, Dorothy Schell of Peoria, Ill., Mary Brown of Hanna City; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a grandson.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
