Ponder, Anton "Tony" R.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Anton R. "Tony" Ponder, 77, of Perryville died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

He was born May 13, 1931, in Biehle, Mo., son of William Ponder and Clara Trapp Ponder.

He was a plasterer for Hunt's Plaster. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a member of Amvets and the VFW. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include a son, Tim Ponder of Perryville; two brothers, Raymond Ponder of Cape Girardeau, Martin Ponder of House Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Robinson of Perryville, Antonia Naumann of Blackwell, Mo., and Luella Degenhardt of Perryville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. There will be a VFW service at 6:30 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. John Gagnepain officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors courtesy of VFW Post 4282.
