Porter, Ivena Jean (nee Gimlin)

Ivena Jean Porter, 85, of Sikeston, died July 30, 2012, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. Born November 14, 1926, in Doniphan, to the late Ivan and Vera King Gimlin, she attended Doniphan, MO schools and later moved to Sikeston, where she graduated from Sikeston High School in 1944. She was employed fifteen years as a secretary for Waters & Associates in Sikeston. On February 11, 1950, in Sikeston, she married William Porter, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1988.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Porter; and two brothers, Buell Gimlin and Dewey Gimlin.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jennifer Porter of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Michael Porter and Megan Porter of Sikeston; three sisters, Clauise Magers of Anderson, IN, Donnie Gwaltney of Athens, TX, and Margaret Beth McCord of Sikeston; and one sister-in-law, Vaudean Gimlin of Sikeston.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am on Friday, August 3, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Private graveside services will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
