Prost, Merlin H. "Bob"

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Merlin H. "Bob" Prost, 90, of Perryville died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City, Mo.

He was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Perryville, son of Emmett and Rose Huber Prost. He and Mary M. Schafer were married Feb. 16, 1952, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Dec. 7, 2006.

Mr. Prost was a World War II Army veteran.

He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He was owner of Prost Auto in Perryville. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Post 133, Lions Club and a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by a son, Larry Prost of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Melissa Jones and Erica Sims of Marshall, Mo., and Vincent Prost of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home. The parish wake will be at 6 today, followed by an American Legion service at 6:45. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
