Pulliam, Donald Ray

Donald Ray Pulliam, age 69, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Millersville, son of the late Arnold W. and Beulah James Pulliam. He and Patsy Newell were married Aug. 3, 1957, in Jackson.

Don attended school in Jackson and at the age of 16 began working for the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson. In 1962 he went to work for the former Bangert Body Shop and in 1973 started work in the warehouse at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau. Don became disabled in 1981.

He has been a member of Millersville Christ Gospel Church since 1981, an offering usher and a former church board member. He was a former member of the Jackson Trail Riders, and avid camper and wood worker.

Loving survivors include his wife of 50 years; a son, Jeff (Beverly) Pulliam; a daughter, Sarah (John) Ryan; a sister, Betty (Carson) Burns, all of Jackson; four grandchildren, Matthew and Dustin Pulliam, Stacy (Jason) Coleman, and Amber (Gary) Middleton; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Middleton, Austen Gambill, Jadyn Coleman, baby girl Coleman, to be born in February 2008; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Fay Pulliam.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Newell officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Brown.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Millersville Christ Gospel Church Building Fund.
