Pulliam, Raymond C.
Raymond C. Pulliam, 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1927, near Millersville, son of John C. and Frona Looney Pulliam. He and Norma "Jean" McBay were married in December 1947.
Raymond attended school in Sedgewickville and served in the U.S. Army.
He worked as a painter, then at Superior Electric Corp., and retired as a concrete foreman working through Labor Local 282. Raymond was a member of United Pentecostal Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader.
He dedicated his life to loving God and his family and helping others. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loved man and will be greatly missed by his family. He is with his savior now and is at peace.
Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years; four daughters, Bonnie (Kenny) Keller of Scott City, Marlene Golden of Cape Girardeau, Jeanette (Harold) James of Zalma, Mo., Sally Welker of Cape Girardeau; a son, Raymond Lee Pulliam of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Marie Huckstep of Cape Girardeau, Glenda Cotner of Washington, Mo., Mildred Fann of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Cathcart officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with full military honors.
