Ramsey, Benjamin Edward

B.E. Ramsey, 73 years old, 1400 Rose street, died at 5:05 o'clock Thursday afternoon at a hospital here where he had been admitted July 30, as a medical patient. Mr. Ramsey had been in failing health nearly a year.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Walther Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank S. Wilfinger of the Christian Church in charge. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gussie Ramsey; two sons, Robert E. Ramsey of Cape Girardeau and W. H. Winchester of Charleston; a brother, Rufus Ramsey of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Mrs. Idella Wetherford of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Bertha O'Guinn of Illmo; and 10 grandchildren.

Benjamin E. Ramsey was born in Cape Girardeau County on Feb. 3, 1879, and was married to Gussie Mae Rash on Feb. 19, 1926. Mr. Ramsey resided in Commerce for a number of years, being employed in the Anderson general mercantile store for about 10 years and later in other stores there.

He also was in a new and used automobile agency there for the Harris Motor Car Co. In 1924 the company moved to Cape Girardeau and he was employed as a salesman for the Harris company until 1942. He then went into the real estate business with the late Al Hunze and following Mr. Hunze's death, was with the Narvol Randol real estate company. His last work was with the Tom Meyer real estate agency. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Commerce.
