Reisenbichler, Nelda (nee Burroughs)

Nelda Burroughs Reisenbichler, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Lutheran Home Assisted Living East.

She was born Nov. 7, 1916, in Frohna, Mo., to the late Carl and Louise Burroughs. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna. She and Delmar Reisenbichler were married April 23, 1937. He preceded her in death March 9, 1983.

Nelda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and a former member of the Senior Ladies Aid. She was employed as cafeteria manager at the former International Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau 23 years and subsequently employed on the assembly line at the former Florsheim Shoe Co. 12 years. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and cooking for her family. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face and for her positive attitude.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Louise Emerson and husband Jerry of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Jerry L. Emerson Jr. of Piggott, Ark., Roderick Emerson of Charleston, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Chad, Dana, Ryan and wife Dana, Chelsea, Quest and Hayden Emerson; and two great-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Rylee Emerson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Burroughs.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Nelda has been a resident at the Lutheran Home Assisted Living East in Cape Girardeau since June 25, 2008, and the family wishes to express their appreciation to all the staff for the compassionate, attentive and loving care provided to her during her residency.

Memorial contributions may be given to Living Hope, c/o Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
