Rellergert, Edgar H.

Edgar H. Rellergert, 84, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Chateau Girardeau.

He was born May 29, 1929, in Old Appleton, son of August and Louise Trapp Rellergert. He and Marilyn J. Stroder were married Aug. 8, 1953, at St. Mary's Church in Cape Girardeau.

Edgar was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson, its Bell Choir and Knights of Columbus Council 6405. Edgar was a self-employed businessman and a former co-owner of Lincoln-McBride Aluminum and Siding Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1992.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and artist. Ed was a lifelong fan of baseball and played for the Old Appleton Yanks and Cape Capahas. He played semiprofessional baseball as a pitcher for the St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox. He was inducted into the Southeast Missouri Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years; four daughters, Sandy (Kevin) Glaser of Sikeston, Mo., Jill (Dan) Braswell of Cape Girardeau, Marsha (Lee) Whitler of Webster Groves, Mo., and Gayle (Rob) Conrad of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Kirstin (Patrick) Sheehan, Tyson Glaser, Dustin (Ana) Haupt, Ian Whitler, Hallie, Morgan and Rachel Conrad; two brothers, Herbert Rellergert of Cape Girardeau and Edmund Rellergert of St. Louis; and a sister, Helen Stroder of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lavina Rellergert and Matilda Buchheit.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by the rosary.

The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Immaculate Conception Church.
