A funeral will be held Saturday for 85-year-old Linus T. Rellergert of Apple Creek who died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born December 14, 1928, in Apple Creek, the son of Felix and Helen (Schremp) Rellergert who both preceded him in death.
He married Mary Ann Buchheit June 6, 1953. She survives in Apple Creek.
He is survived by five sons: Michael (Linda) Rellergert of Jackson and Dale and Leroy Rellergert, both of Perryville, David (Peggy) Rellergert of Uniontown, Roger Rellergert of Florissant and Donna (Kevin) Brown of Apple Creek; two brothers and two sisters: Leo (Mary Ann) Rellergert of Perryville, Charles (Dianne) Rellergert of Jackson, Dorothy (Virgil) Wibbenmeyer of Apple Creek and Margaret "Mickey" (Tom) Wibbenmeyer of Peoria, Illinois; six grandchildren: Nathan Rellergert, Tyson Rellergert, Steven Rellergert, Samantha Rellergert, Shaun Rellergert and Kyle Brown.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Aloysius Rellergert and two sisters: Leona Winkler and Alberta "Birdie" Buchheit.
Linus was a carpenter and a farmer of both agriculture and livestock. He loved wood working and gardening.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek, the Knights of Columbus Council 1263 and St. Joseph’s men’s organization.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday and 6:30-9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A Catholic Wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday with a Rosary at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, both at the funeral home.
A funeral mass for 85-year-old Linus T. Rellergert of Apple Creek will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek. The Rev. Jim French will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
