Richter, Pauline A. (nee Meyr)

Pauline A. Richter, 75, of New Wells passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 18, 1938, near New Wells, daughter of Albert H. and Elda F. Gerler Meyr. She and Edward H. "Ebs" Richter were married June 6, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

Pauline was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was baptized April 4, 1938, confirmed April 6, 1952, and had always been very active and involved at the church. She was a Sunday-school teacher 35 years, a former youth counselor at the church, a member of the fellowship club, and was former president, treasurer and secretary of LWML. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 133 of Perryville, Mo., and AAL Branch 1137.

She was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked 23 years at the former Heritage Savings and Loan in Jackson, and then worked as a local representative for the former AAL Insurance, now Thrivent Financial Services. She was later employed as a substitute postmaster in Altenburg, Mo. She also enjoyed working at the polling booth as a clerk at election time.

Loving survivors include her husband of 54 years, "Ebs"; a daughter, Carol (Paul) Engelhart of Jackson; three grandchildren, Tyler Engelhart of Herrin, Ill., Katelyn and Alexis Engelhart of Jackson; and three sisters, Jean (Leroy) Roth of Farrar, Mo., Arlyss (Ron) Schmidt of Altenburg and Kathy (Richard) Steffens of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rose Marie Meyr.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Lawrence N. Bradt officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
