Rose, Jerry Lynn

Jerry Lynn Rose, 82, of Jackson left this world to join his wife Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at his home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, to Guy V. and Thelma E. Dillingham Rose. He and Lois Roberta Mize were married July 4, 1952, in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death Dec. 2, 2014.

Jerry was a member of the Missouri National Guard, and was honorably discharged in 1952. He then joined the United States Army and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in February 1961. He was a member of VFW and the American Legion.

He had been a firefighter for the city of Cape Girardeau 15 years until he retired. He started Rose Trim Shop and continued with it even after he and Lois moved to Statham, Georgia, where they bought a farm and built their own house. They were members of Athens Area Racing Pigeon Club. After moving back to Missouri, Jerry began wood working and building model airplanes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping all his life.

Jerry leaves behind two daughters, Roberta Rose (James Stevens) of St. Louis and Elizabeth Roy of the home; two grandsons, Kyle Pender (Whitney) of Patton, Missouri, and Tim Roy (Tracy) of McClure, Illinois; and four great-grandchildren, Kody, Cannon, Gabriella and Jaxon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors conducted by the Missouri Honors Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri or the Missouri Department of Conservation.
