PERRYVLLE, Mo. -- Harlo D. Rubach of Perryville died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Independence Care Center in Perryville. He was 76.

He was born July 13, 1934, in Percy, Ill., son of the late William and Bertha Hornbostel Rubach.

He and Barbara L. Ochs were married June 11, 1955. She survives in Perryville.

Other survivors include two daughters and a son, Karen (Ed) Buchheit of Perryville, Kent (Cindy) Rubach of Wildwood, Mo., Kathleen (Todd) Hite of Vance, Ala.; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Darlene Dierks, both of Steelville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Corey (Michael-Ann) Buchheit, Hayley Buchheit, Wesley Buchheit, Kaleb Rubach, Clayton Rubach, Kolby Hite, Kallie Hite; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Landon Buchheit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Stella Todaro; and four brothers, Wilbert, Elmer, Herbert and Harold Rubach.

Mr. Rubach was a retired bricklayer, Immanuel Lutheran Church custodian and 11-year employee of Gilster-Mary Lee. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sunday Morning Bible Class, American Legion Post 133, VFW Post 4282 and was an Army veteran. He was a former elder and past member of Immanuel Finance Board, Lutheran Mixed Sunday Bowling League and an alderman for four years for Ward I in Perryville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, with American Legion wake at 7 p.m., and from 6:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday. He will then be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church for a funeral service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside service provided by the American Legion Post 133 and the Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School or Alzheimer's Association.
