Ruesler, Kermit S.

Kermit S. Ruesler, 77, of Littleton, Colorado, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Swedish Medical Center in Littleton.

He was born Dec. 16, 1936, in Old Appleton, son of Edmund H. and Mildred Klaus Ruesler.

Kermit graduated from Perryville High School in 1955 and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1962.

He volunteered for the draft and served two years in the Army. After training at Fort Hood, Texas, he was assigned to the Army's 4th Armored Division, 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 14th Artillery in Furth, Germany. He was a reconnaissance sergeant in a forward observer section. He graduated from the 4th Armored Division's Non-Commissioned Officers Academy in New Ulm, Germany, and from the 7th Army Troop Information Instructors School in Furth. Besides his regular duties as a reconnaissance sergeant, he was also the troop information instructor and the training NCO in his battery.

After his service, he worked at Goldsmith's Department Store (now Macy's) in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a buyer 24 years, then worked for consolidated stores as a store manager until he retired in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy (David) Sungelo of Parker, Colorado; a grandson, Mitchell, and granddaughter, Erin, of Parker; a sister, Dolores Myer of Jackson; three nieces and a nephew.

Burial will be Wednesday in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. and the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. The Rev. Robert Henrichs will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be given to Lutheran Ministries for Shut Ins or Lutheran Ministries Media Inc., 5 Martin Luther Drive, both in Fort Wayne, IN 46825.

Horan and McConaty in Centennial, Colo., is in charge of arrangements.
