Runnels, Raymond H.

VETERAN OWNER OF BARBER SHOP DIES IN HOSPITAL

Raymond H. Runnels, 204 North Boulevard, owner and operator of College Barber Shop the past 40 years, became ill at a square dance Tuesday night and later died in a hospital here. He was 64 years old.

Mr. Runnels was born Jan. 23, 1905, at Millersville. He attended schools there and at Oak Ridge. He graduated from Moler Barber College in St. Louis. He married the former Miss Ersie Smith Sept. 12, 1928 at Jackson, who survives.

The family moved to Cape Girardeau in 1929. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, St. Mark's Masonic Lodge and Allermanders Square Dance Club.

Besides his wife, Mr. Runnels is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald Thomas of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Walter Matthews of Jacksonville, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Peters of Burfordville, Mrs. Reda Mouser of Millersville, and six grandchildren.

The body is at Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 tonight.

Services have been set for 3:30 Friday afternoon at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Ray Trotter, pastor of Centenary Church, officiating. He well be assisted by the Rev. Ernest L. Jordan, pastor of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
