Runnels, Willis J.

Jackson - Willis J. Runnels, 79 years old, a farmer, died at the family home, two miles west of Millersville Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. He had been in failing health for several years and seriously ill for the past two months.

Mr. Runnels was born July 6, 1870. He was first married to Miss Ann Schrock who died Feb. 22, 1899. He was married to Mrs. Chester Hopkins, on Sept. 29, 1941, and she survives. Children by the first marriage surviving are: one son, Raymond Runnels of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mrs. W.D. Mouser of Millersville, and Mrs. Willie Peters of Burfordville. Surviving from the second marriage is one son, Albert Dean Runnels, at home; also two step-sons, Lynn and Loral Hopkins. There are 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body was removed to the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be conducted by Rev. H.B. Colter, at 1:30 Friday afternoon and interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
