Sadler, Donald C.

Donald C. Sadler, 84, of Cape Girardeau died on Friday, July 10, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born Saturday, July 26, 1924 in Farmington, Mo. to Monroe and Ada Belle Roberts Sadler. He and Dorothy Eaker were married June 8, 1943 in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church. Mr. Sadler served two stints in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He had worked at Superior Electric for 38 years where he was a foreman and quality control supervisor. He then worked at DW Tool several years before he retired. He had been active in coaching youth baseball and church league basketball. He was active and attended USS Pamansett reunions and was a member of Mine Warfare.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy of Cape, a son, Larry Sadler and wife Kathy of Cape Girardeau, MO., 3 brothers; Norval Sadler of St. Louis, Mo., Harlan Sadler and wife, Charlotte of Chaffee, Mo. and Dean Sadler and wife Karen of Marietta, Ga., 2 grandchildren; Allison Davis and husband, Ryan of Cape Girardeau, and Greg Sadler and wife Kate of Kirkwood, Mo., and 4 great grandchildren; Raleigh, Brogan, Grayson, and Sarah McKinley Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, William D. "Woody" Sadler and Edward "Cotton" Sadler.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 4-8pm at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.

Funeral service will be Monday, July 13, 2009 at 10:00am at Red Star Baptist Church in Cape with Rev. Cy Smith officiating.

Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum
with military rites by Missouri Honor Team.

Memorials are requested to Red Star Baptist Church in Cape.
