Sander, Lillie Mae (nee Limbaugh)
Lillie Mae Sander, 84, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 4, 1919, near Millersville, daughter of Arthur B. and Willie May Moore Limbaugh. She and William K. "Bill" Sander were married March 20, 1937, in Houston, Mo. He passed away Feb. 7, 1991.
Mae was a graduate of Jackson High School class of 1935. She and her late husband were co-owners and managers of Albert Sander Hardware Co. in Jackson and Cape Girardeau more than 30 years.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson, and a member of Order of Eastern Star 91 in Jackson more than 50 years. Mae was a past president of Demolay Mothers Club in Jackson, and involved with Job's Daughters in Cape Girardeau and Jackson. She and her husband were supporters of the Cape Girardeau County Association for Retarded Citizens many years.
Her greatest achievement for which she will be most remembered is the love, devotion and nurturing she tirelessly and unselfishly gave to her family.
Loving survivors include six sons, Tom Sander of Palestine, Texas, Jim and John Sander of Jackson, Lane Sander of Wildwood, Mo., Steve Sander of Mechanicsburg, Pa., David Sander of Union, Mo.; five daughters, Ruth Guilliams and Nancy Lynn Sander of Jackson, Marilyn Meadows of Muncie, Ind., Karen Tumbrink of Ellis-ville, Mo., Pat Smith of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Azalea Spane of Park Hills, Mo.; 35 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Sander; a grandson, Jeffery Guilliams; a granddaughter, Eileen Sander; five brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call Saturday, March 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Usher officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Cape Girardeau County Association for Retarded Citizens, American Cancer Society, or New McKendree United Methodist Church Youth Ministry Fund.
