Sander, Lorene C. (nee Schlegel)
Lorene C. Sander, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born April 24, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Otto H.A. and Alma O. Helwege Schlegel. She and Winfred D. Sander were married May 27, 1959. He died Feb. 22, 1994.
Lorene attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Central High School.
She was a payroll clerk at the former Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau more than 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include a sister, Millie Schlegel Strom of Cape Girardeau, and her children, Bonnie Cochran, Jennifer Freudenburg, Carol Berrong and Troy Strom Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Ruthie Schlegel of Cape Girardeau, and her daughter, Barbara Jarvis; and Velma Schlegel of Norris City, Ill.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman C. and Otto E. Schlegel; and a brother-in-law, Ted R. Strom.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Preferred Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Radio Ministry.
