Sander, Ruby Aleene (nee Illers)
Ruby Aleene Sander, age 95 of Jackson, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at St Francis Medical Center. She was born March 24, 1918 daughter of William and Mabel Rice Illers. She and Leonard F. Sander were married March 20, 1938.
Aleene was an active member of New McKendree UMC in Jackson for 83 years where she taught Sunday School over 30 years. She was a member of Naomi Circle, P.E.O. and the Jackson Garden Club. She was a community volunteer and she loved to care for her family.
Survivors include 2 sons, Fritz (Marsha) and Paul (Pam) Sander of Jackson; 6 grandchildren, Sam (fiancée, Sheigh) and Spencer Sander, Lindsay (Chris) Harshburger, Stephen (Kelly) Sander, Frank (Elizabeth) and Trent (Malissa) Miller; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Harold (Becky) Illers and sister, Doris (Ed) Eltzroth of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Joan Illers of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years; brother, Donald Illers and 2 infant sisters.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral service will be 11am Friday at the funeral home with Rev Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to New McKendree UMC Children’s Ministry or a charity of your choice.
