Scherer, Owen Harold

Owen H. Scherer Sr., 78, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after a long illness.

He was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Benton, Mo., son of Felix L. and Hilda L. Hebenstriet Scherer.

Mr. Scherer was a foreman with AmerenUE in Cape Girardeau 37 years, and also farmed and raised registered Longhorn cattle in the Jackson area. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 and member of IBEW. He was of the Catholic belief.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra C. (Stan) Baughn of Jackson; two sons, Owen H. (Victoria) Scherer Jr. of Jackson, Rowedy Enderle of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Francis Scherer of Anna, Ill.; three sisters, Delores Payne and Germaine Lynch of Cape Girardeau, Shirley Guard of Perryville, Mo.; a grandson, James O.S. Baughn of Jackson; former wife, Faye Schreiner of Cape Girardeau; a special friend, Jessie Kimbel of Jackson; her children, Dennis Kimbel of Jackson, Cindy Arnzen of Laflin, Mo., and Shannon Pogue of Marble Hill, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at noon Friday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Steve Francis officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military rites by Missouri Honors Team.
